A strand of thread that connects all of us.
In the midst of uncertainty and chaos, most of us view our own safety as the number one priority. However, some people use their ability and talent help those who risk their lives for the sake of others.
Throughout the world, shortage of Personal Protection Equipment, or PPE for short, has
become one of the biggest struggles for the emergency medical workers to protect
themselves from the coronavirus raging through the entire world.
Thus, this opportunity allows all kinds of fashion brands to collaborate to recompense (or repay) the frontliners as a token of appreciation and support.
The president of France, Emmanuel Macron has called its people to aid the medical teams as they are in dire need of help. Standing up to the call, Dior has produced PPE and masks to support the demand of at least 100 million masks per week. The design also attracts people to wear them as fashionable masks!
110,000 masks and 80,000 medical overalls made by Prada in their factories in Montone,
Preugia have been distributed daily to Tuscany to accommodate the needs of the whole
country.
One of the most well-known luxury brands, Gucci has stepped out to help not just in Italy, but also France and China. They have successfully produced 1 million masks and medical overalls and distributed them to all of the countries stated above. Led by Alessandro Michele, the brand has donated 1 million Euros to the Protezione Civile through the Italian banking group Intesa Sanpaolo’s ForFunding, a crowd-funding platform. #GucciCommunity has also contributed towards Italy’s public health where the hashtag comprises the brand’s followers and customers, working together to aid Italy’s Coronavirus wave.
As we all see the Covid-19 raging and taking its victim mainly in the USA, brands such as
Michael Kors also stepped in to help in New York City. A donation of $1 million dollars has been made to help those in need through the brand alone. Through its parent company Capri Holdings which also includes John Idol, another fashion brand raised $1 million dollars for donations. The money goes to NYU Langone Health and New York-Presbyterian Hospital which are two non-profit major hospitals that help to heal and aid those who contracted the disease.
We can see that even though these brands are one of the most impacted businesses
throughout the pandemic, they are also one of the key factors that help out the society in terms of giving out donations and essential needs for the medical workers to ensure that they can do their job efficiently and safely. It is everyone’s hope that the pandemic will end soon and the world will continue on its way with the new norm.
